‘Bergdoktor’ (TV series) meets mountaineer in Chemnitz: Hans Sigl honours Reinhold Messner for his life's work

It will be a summit meeting of a special kind when Austrian actor Hans Sigl meets the real hero of the mountains. The greatest mountaineer of all time will be awarded the European Culture Prize at the Chemnitz Opera House on 9 May. The 80-year-old, who was the first to conquer all 14 eight-thousanders and, as a passionate environmentalist, highlights the beauty and fragility of nature in his museums, will receive the award from TV heartthrob Hans Sigl.
